This advert doesn't use a picture of the band which is something we have taken note of so far when we have been looking at existing advert examples.
The image is still very interesting though and it attracts your attention looking at it. It is very dark in colour and pictures 2 skeletons lying on the floor with objects around them such as shoes, books and what looks like the top of a guitar. The positioning of the 2 skeletons looks as though they were lying looking into each others eyes as if they were in love, and then died because they were there so long. This could have lots of interesting links to time being loves worst enemy and love being toxic and linked to decay. The image is also very dark in colour all the way through which suggests that the songs on the album will be possibly quite heavy rock with some sinister song titles and lyrics with potentially dark messages.
In terms of the fonts used, all of the font on the page is white due to the dark coloured background in order for the font to be seen. It is also quite a bold font, again so it can be seen, but it is very plain and simple without including the Fall Out Boy logo as well. I think some of the combinations of things done here is quite risky because there is no band logo or image of the band which could cause potential issues with people knowing who it is. I think they have compensated for this by writing 'Fall Out Boy' in large font at the top of the advert poster, which does work but I think it could have been done better to represent the band more.
In terms of the actual information included on the poster, there is the band name and album name which are crucial things to include, but this advert also includes information about the exclusive footage that is also included when consumers purchase this version of the album. These are all important things to include to boost the selling point of the item that is being advertised. The only thing I think they could have done better in terms of the information on the poster is including a quote or some sort of star rating from the album which would again boost the selling point because people are more likely to buy something if they have seen other reviews.
Overall, I think this is a good advert, but I think there are a lot of ways in which it could be made better. I don't think we will be looking to this example for much of our inspiration from forms and conventions, but we will keep it in mind.
