This is an advert for Paramore's gig in in Singapore. As you can see, this is a unique layout and has a very interesting composition for a number of reasons, Firstly, the symmetry chosen is extremely interesting as it's rule of thirds mean that there are two people either side of Hayley Williams as well as a pair of butterfly wings in the foreground.
This puts this poster at somewhat of a mix between a band shot and something which is original and artistic as it's conventional for having it's 5 man band displayed clearly yet is set apart by the giant incongruous pair of butterfly wings. It is this type of creative twist which we ourselves should try to include somehow in our advert. However, for us, unless we feel that we have a good idea, we mustn't put something on it for the sake of it.
The colours here are also fairly interesting as the font colour is a yellowy-orange, which makes it stand out really well from the black background. The yellowy-orange haze in the background also makes a difference as otherwise, the band members would look extremely odd with only black behind them and butterfly wings where their legs should be.
The information on the bottom is minimal, only stating the dates of the gig, the website for tickets and the record label. This is probably the right level of information as too much information can make an advert seem overcrowded with lettering and unpleasant to read to anyone. We should make note of that ourselves for that reason.
In general, this seems a good advert and gives all the expected information for the band and intrigues the reader with what the significance of the haze and the butterflies are. The image of the band, although good in composition and the costume of the members, seems mediocre in terms of the quality of the image as it looks quite badly Photo-shopped and I feel that we could do better ourselves in that aspect.
