Narrative Footage Issue - Tripod In The Background

As we were editing in the new narrative footage from the nightclub bathroom scene, we noticed purely by chance that one of our favourite shots from one angle had one of our camera tripods in the background. The shot itself was perfect but it was quite visible in the middle of the shot as Orrin pushed Laura away from him.
We originally thought that this footage wasn't usable at all as a result of this, but we later learnt that there was a way of editing the footage so that the tripod could no longer be seen. We expected this to take a really long time, but James took on the responsibility and managed to do it in about half an hour using some after effects software. He had to go frame by frame through this video in order to replace part of the image with another part which in turn made it look as if there was never a tripod there in the first place.
The shot looks visibly so much better now that the tripod has been removed and it is a relief for us that we don't have to film the shot again, or not use it at all as re-shooting that scene would have been almost impossible to organise in the amount of time which we had which was very little. Discovering that altering this footage in post was the news which we were all really chuffed to hear.
Here are a few images from the process. As you can see, the bright rectangular shape represents the area which has been replaced. As the shot moved, James had to move this triangle with it in order to make this effect appear seamless which was relieving given the stress which the original discovery had caused.
